Resolution and output details
How Reddit animated media is interpreted
SaveMingo first validates the target public Reddit post and then inspects only media tied to that post. The same safety rules that exclude unrelated page images, unsafe hosts, and external-site substitutions also apply to animated media.
If Reddit exposes a usable animation source, SaveMingo normalizes the actual format it can verify. If that source is MP4-style video, the result stays video-backed media; if no qualifying animation source is present, the downloader does not manufacture motion from a still image.
Reddit can change how old posts are represented. A post that once appeared animated may later expose only static media or no supported public media at all, so SaveMingo reports the current resolvable state rather than relying on an outdated assumption.
What the Reddit animated-media result means
- A video-backed file can be the correct source for GIF-style Reddit content when that is what Reddit currently exposes.
- SaveMingo does not rename MP4 bytes to .gif and does not claim a native GIF file unless the resolved media actually proves that format.

- Temporary Reddit response
- The public media response was incomplete or transient. A later resolve may differ, but a temporary failure is not converted into a fake animation result.
